Utah's first ever Open Source Conference is being held at Building A of the Novell Provo Campus. Saturday is the last day - come enjoy the keynote speakers & breakout sessions!
With Debian 4.0 recently released I upgraded the server today. If anybody notices things acting oddly please send me an email at admin@uvlug.org and I'll look into getting it fixed.

Greetings UVLUGger's...
As part of my service and learning project for INFO 3510, I've added a new page to our beloved web site
ISO DOWNLOADS!
Now you can download the most current images for your favorite distributions directly from campus, without waiting HOURS for it to finish. Perfect for those of you who - like me - have a severe case of OS ADD and love to try out new distributions.
If there's anything you think I should add to this list, buzz me!
Later!!
Just a reminder about this Saturday's meeting. It will be at 2:30pm,
in room CS404 at UVSC (the same room as in the past). Parking is free
on Saturday and a parking map can be found here .
We currnetly do not yet have a firm presenter in place but I have
several people who mentioned interest in presenting and hopefully one
of them will come through. If none of them come through I'm sure
pizza can be ordered to ease the pain of no presentation. With or
without a presentation, feel free to bring your linux questions and
problems as I'm sure there will be time for helping one another out.

Just a reminder that there is a meeting tomorrow (Saturday) at UVSC in CS 404 at 1:30PM. Our guest speaker is Amos Coletti and he will be speaking on XEN. He is planning on covering a simple installation and some pitfalls to watch out for. He will also cover how to setup the web interface for remote management.
As someone who has fun with fiddling with Gentoo, Amos is also planning on sticking around after the presentation to give Gentoo help to whomever is willing to share their problems.

At 2:30pm on Jan 27 in room CS404 at UVSC, the UVLUG will have a gathering for you all. With the 27th being only a number of days away we will not be able to have a presenter for the group on hand, but we will have plenty else on hand. We will have official Ubuntu 6.06 and Fedora Core 6 CDs. We will have pizza. We will have a large screen for a movie. We will have other individuals just like you to be able to socialize with and we will also have help on hand if people need help installing/upgrading/fixing linux. So bring yourself, an appetite, your computer(s), your linux questions or problems and maybe a good tech movie and we can all have a good time.

Want to know a little more about Linux? Not sure of yourself when at the Linux command line? Ever wonder what Linux program to use to do such and such? Heard the words distribution, gnome, kde, kernel, gimp, ssh, X, or apache and weren't sure what they were?
We have a solution for you. On September 16th the UVLUG will have a presentation on the Basics of Linux.
The Unofficial Lego Builder's Guide is a nice introduction to the lego world. While this book may not appeal to the expert lego builder, the beginner will find the techniques informative, and the intermediate builder will probably learn a few new tricks. Younger legomainiacs might lack the patience to read this book, but it should be a nice review for a parent who wishes to guide a young architect in the right direction. Legos have been around for years, and considering the basic nature of these instructions, this book should be useful for many years to come.
UVLUG will be starting elections very soon. Announce your candidacy or volunteer today!

We have launched a blog aggregater based on Planet for Utah's Open Source Community.
Utah Open Source Planet
If you blog and are an Open Source FRIEND/USER/HACKER/ZEALOT, we would like to add your feed. We don't care how frequent or infrequently you post. You don't have to always be "on topic" either (although, being consistently and wildly off topic will get you quietly removed). We hope this will help the community grow a little tighter as people learn who's out there and what interests they have.
We currently use the standard "hackergotchi" style head shots so readers will be able to "put a name to a face." Also, a custom template that will output strict XHTML is actively being developed. After completing the template, we will be accepting CSS themes for the new Planet which we will be submitted back to Jeff Waugh for possible
inclusion in the official Planet source. Lastly, we are working on integrating it with Google Maps so you can see where all the bloggers are located.
To be added, follow these instructions.
I just started a search for mythtv cards and we were number 2.

Hey everyone! I'm still sorry about the last meeting, but this time I'll post the date and time :)
This week we have Dave Heldenbrand coming to present on IPv6. I highly recommend coming because this guy really knows his stuff. From what I understand he presented on this to IEEE and Networld. Aside from that, everyone that takes his class really enjoys it.
Welcome all!!!
Stephen
